29. And Holding. Forever.

Today I am 29. I am not impressed. This is the last year of my twenties and I see 30 creeping up on me.

My twenties were so good, I just wonder how my thirties will even begin to compare. Since I left teenager land I have:
- travelled to Australia
- met and married Matt
- finished 2 degrees
- bought two homes, second one with cash!
- had first kid and the next one is on the way
- lived in NWT, Nunavut and now Yukon
- paid off astounding amounts of student loan debt
- kept 2 cats alive for longer than any other pet of mine
- learned that a sewing machine is not evil
- shot my first moose
- shot my first caribou
- kept first kid alive longer than most pets
- travelled to Cape Breton three times and learned that not all of Matt's relatives are odd, just 90% of them
- lengthened my attention span by OH LOOK A KITTY

See! My twenties were great, and that is just a short list of the highlights. So I guess I have to make this last year the best of them all so I can leave this decade with a bang. I will be taking suggestions for making this last year the best!

Happy Birthday Kara!!!

Being 29 isn't so bad, but I think when I turn 30 in about 8 months, and it is coming up pretty fast!

You have accomplished quite a bunch, looking forward to seeing what your 29th year holds :-)

Well, I'm at the other end of the year, as I'll be turning 30 in November... hoping that it will be after Nugget is born so that I can say I had two kids before 30! You're going to be in the same boat on that one -- how can you possibly top that?

One's 20s are such a busy and life-changing time, moving from a school focus to "true" adulthood, IMHO, even if some of us haven't really figured out what we wanna be when we grow up. :) But I've felt like I've been in my 30s for a while already. Must be the parenthood thing!

Crap! I didn't know today was your birthday! You need to add that to Facebook! :) I had a HUGE problem with turning 30. But, now it's the best time of my life.

Congratulations!
The year before I turned 30, I suffered from angst in the worst way - totally induced by my age-freaky friends. I thought for sure that I had to accomplish/experience everything before that magic number was my age...
Well, I failed miserably at that - but was happy to realize that the world as I knew it didn't come to a halt just because I'd left the 20's.

Heh....the 30's ain't so bad. Hopefully 4-0 will be much the same though it will be awhile yet before I cross the threshold.

They say the mind starts to wander a bit with advancing age no doubt brought about by a number of complex and hitherto unexplainable consequences mainly as a result of psychological, social and weather-related incidents like this time when I was in band camp and I.......wait! Where was I?

Well, happy birthday to ya!

Happy birthday, Kara. Don't fret about leaving the 20s behind. I used to think that too, but discovered that as I pass through the decades, each one gives me a better quality of life than the one before. There may be a few more morning aches, but no there are no hangovers or 2a.m. diaper changes, and the hot tub and Caribbean cruises get rid of the aches nicely! :)

Happy Birthday!! I can't give you any good advise, but I will say you should totally go on a trip to Vegas with your girlfriends as a last being in your 20's Hurrah! Vegas or anything other place you might find fun!

Happy birthday Kara! I fretted so much when I turned 29 that by the time I hit 30, all the anxiety had passed. Now that I just turned 39, hopefully my 40th will be just as easy.
Do take time for yourself even if you are a busy mom.

Best wishes,
Carole

Happy Birthday! Don't worry about 30's..Just enjoy yourself and family. Life is great at any age. I too had anxiety about reaching 30's, but really it's nothing; it only gets better.
Don't stress yourself, you'll just make yourself get sick. Be happy and don't worry.. Have a blast today! Lucy
